Central African rebels take out GSM, FM, PMR - report

GSM, FM and private mobile radio network services are being knocked out by insurgents from the Seleka coalition fighting Francois Bozize's regime in the areas of the Central African Republic they control or pass through, reports Balancing Act, citing a message on Yahoo! discussion group Africa-Net. The rebels are said to target generators, solar panels, batteries and any electrical or electronic equipment that is easy to carry. This has left the population completely cut off from the rest of the world with no phones, community radio sets or PMR equipment, the latter used by police and customs
