Central America pay-TV market grows 13.5% in 2015

The number of pay-TV households in Central America grew faster than the rest of Latin America in 2015, according to research firm Dataxis. The region covered by Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama and Dominican Republic reached 3.7 million pay-TV subscribers by the end of 2015, representing 13.5 percent growth compared with end-2014. Currently, the main driver in terms of subscribers is Costa Rica, and along with Panama they are the most mature markets. Dataxis believes that DTH services will continue to push the market, mainly due to the advantages that the service can offer
