CFoot to stop broadcasting in June - report

Monday 6 February 2012 | 08:45 CET | News
Budding French pay TV channel CFoot, owned by the country's professional football league, LFP, will stop broadcasting at the end of the Ligue 2 championship in June, reports sports daily L'Equipe. The channel was hit by competition from Al-Jazeera, which entered the market last year and bought match broadcasting rights. CFoot is viewed on cable, satellite ADSL and pay DTT, and now has 330,000 subscribers. The channel launched with a EUR 30 million budget but is making EUR 15 million in losses during this initial period.
