Channel 4 CEO warns against privatisation

Channel 4 CEO David Abraham has warned the UK government that privatising the broadcaster would result in its programming budget being cut by a third, reports The Telegraph. In an interview with the paper's Sunday publication, Abraham warned that privatisation would see its programming budget fall from around GBP 600 million a year to GBP 400 million as it looked to deliver returns for shareholders, which would be damaging to independent producers and the UK creative industry. Abraham stressed that Channel 4 had spent GBP 8 billion with the independent production sector since launch. George
