Channel 4, ITV vie for racing broadcast rights - report

Friday 11 December 2015 | 17:11 CET | News
UK broadcasters ITV and Channel 4 are understood to be in a bidding war for the terrestrial broadcast rights for horse racing, reports The Times newspaper. Both are believed to have made offers to Racecourse Media Group (RMG) significantly higher than the current 4-year GBP 16 million deal held by Channel 4, which expires in 2017. ITV is understood to have offered to show 20-30 days of racing on its main channel, with the rest shown on ITV4. The RMG is expected to announce which broadcaster has made a winning bid by end-2015.
