Chile and Peru sign MOU to scrap roaming by 2020

Chilean telecommunications regulator Subtel and its Peruvian counterpart Osiptel announced a MOU to end international roaming charges between the two countries by 2020. The agreement was signed by the respective heads of Subtel and Osiptel, Pamela Gidi and Rafael Muente, at the Peruvian watchdog's headquarters in Peru, with the officials also discussing the digital development of their countries. The roaming deal is set to directly benefit around 300,000 users who travel between Chile and Peru on a monthly basis.
