Chile connects Caleta Tortel to undersea fibre system

Chile's communications regulator Subtel announced that the coastal locality of Caleta Tortel in the Aysen region has been connected to the undersea section of the country's Fibra Optica Austral (FOA) project to improve connectivity in underserved southern areas. Local telecommunications operator Communication and Rural Telephony (CTR), in association with Huawei Marine, was awarded the tender for the submarine section and one of three land-based sections of the project.
