Chile extends deadline for blocking phones without emergency alert capability

Chilean telecommunications regulator Subtel has announced that it's extending the deadline for blocking all mobile devices that haven't been registered under the multiband/SAE regulations until 13 March 2019. The regulations require smartphones, tablets, IoT and other mobile devices to be compatible with all active frequency bands and the ability to receive alerts of possible earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanic eruptions from the country's early warning system (SAE).
