Chile eyeing launch of secondary market for spectrum

Chilean telecommunications regulator Subtel is putting the final touches to new rules that will pave the way for operators to sell unwanted spectrum licences, reports business daily Diario Financiero, citing Subtel head Pamela Gidi. "We are going to boost the secondary market and are currently evaluating a bill stating that spectrum can be sold to third parties and concessions repealed if they are not used," said Gidi, adding that Subtel will proceed to confiscate unused frequencies.
