Chile reaches 3.38 mln fixed lines at end-2014

Chile ended the fourth quarter of 2014 with 3.38 million fixed telephony subscribers, up from 3.30 million at the end of the same quarter in 2013, according to a recent report released by telecoms services watchdog Subtel. Residential fixed telephony lines reached 2.11 million lines at end-2014, up compared to 2.06 million the previous year. The country reached an overall fixed telephony penetration of 19.1 percent at the end of December 2014, up 0.2 percentage points year-on-year. Movistar ended the quarter with a market share of 46.3 percent, followed by VTR, with 20.7 percent and Entel,
