Chile signs public-private partnership to connect Graneros

Chilean telecommunications regulator Subtel announced that the government has signed a public-private agreement with the company Mundo Pacifico to connect the isolated town of Graneros in the O'Higgins region. Under the terms of the deal, 12 free Wi-Fi hotspots will be installed in public spaces throughout the town and the rural school La Compania will be connected to a network offering speeds of up to 1Gbps in an initiative that's set to benefit 34,000 inhabitants.
