Chile watchdog proposes new critical telecom infrastructure rules

Chilean telecommunications watchdog Subtel announced the launch of a public consultation on a proposal to update critical infrastructure rules to include emerging technologies such as fibre optics. In a statement, the regulator said the new rules would govern the reporting of faults in the country's telecommunications networks and early warning system (SAE) as well as procedures to protect telecom services and update security to prevent service interruptions.
