Chilean fibre homes up 71% year on year to a quarter of fixed internet total

Chilean fibre-optic households surged by 71 percent year on year between June 2018 and June 2019 to reach over 25 percent of the country's fixed internet total at the end of H2, according to OECD figures cited by Chilean telecommunications regulator Subtel. The figure is more than six times the OECD average in the period, allowing the country to close in on the average fibre-optic penetration rate in OECD countries of 26.8 percent.
