Chile's Subtel inks deal to drive rural broadband rollout

Monday 22 January 2018 | 10:55 CET | News
Chile's telecommunications regulator Subtel has signed an agreement with rural municipalities association Amur to drive broadband access across 18 localities in the Santiago Metropolitan region. Under the terms of the deal, the bodies will work together to bridge the digital divide in the localities, which cover 85 percent of the region's territory. Subtel and Amur will develop technical solutions, assess the economic feasibility of various connectivity projects and deploy the necessary infrastructure to implement the initiatives, said the regulator in a statement.
