Chile's WOM adds over 67,000 mobile clients in August

A total of 431,207 Chilean numbers were ported in August, some 62 percent more than a year ago in yet another record month since number portability was launched in 2012, according to the latest update from telecommunications regulator Subtel. Low-cost operator WOM recorded the largest monthly net customer gain in August, attracting 67,118 new users, slightly up on the previous month. Claro and Movistar followed with 18,638 and 15,568 new customers, both well down on the previous month. VTR, Virgin Mobile and Simple came next with 4,372, 1,295 and 228 respectively. All gained at the expense of Entel, which posted a negative portability figure of -105,791.

In the fixed telephony segment, Claro, Entel, VTR and GTD gained 3,861, 2,639, 1,612 and 567 customers respectively, while Movistar shed 4,526.
