China smartphone shipments drop 11% to 108 mln units in Q4 2018

China smartphone shipments declined by 11 percent annually to reach 108 million units in the fourth quarter of 2018, from 121.3 million units in the fourth quarter of 2017. Huawei was market leader in the quarter, while Apple and Xiaomi lost ground, according to a report from Strategy Analytics. The report also indicates that the Chinese smartphone market is in recession and has declined for five consecutive quarters.
