China smartphone shipments drop nearly 10% to 103 mln units in Q4

Smartphone shipments in the Chinese market fell 9.7 percent year-on-year to 103 million units in the fourth quarter of 2018, according to a report from IDC. Huawei led the market with 30 million smartphones shipped in the fourth quarter of 2018, which represents an increase of 23.3 percent year-on-year. Huawei ended 2018 with a smartphone market share of 29 percent in China. Oppo ranked second with a market share of 19.6 percent, followed by Vivo (18.8%), Apple (11.5%), and Xiaomi (10.3%).
