China to accelerate broadband rollout

China will accelerate the rollout of broadband internet access in the country to boost economic and social development. In a statement, the he Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) said that it aims to end 2015 with over 250 million broadband users in China, with internet speeds in urban and rural areas reaching 20 Mbps and 4 Mbps, respectively. Furthermore, the broadband coverage target in rural areas is set at 95 percent by 2015, Xinhua reports.
