Chorus accelerates fibre take-up

New Zealand network operator Chorus announced that it lost 18,000 fixed lines and gained 11,000 broadband connections in the three months to 30 September. The total number of fixed lines on the network reached 1.776  million, and broadband connections totaled 1.218 million. The drop in fixed lines was driven by the continued migration to fibre. Fibre uptake increased from 14 to 17 percent of connected premises across Chorus' Ultra Fast Broadband areas. The operator said 39 percent of mass market fibre connections are now on plans of 100Mbps or higher. New fibre connections are averaging more
