Cisco has provided its Tail-f Network Control System (NCS) for data centre operator Equinix. The companies made the announcement at the Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona.

The NCS will power the Equinix Cloud Exchange–the Equinix Programmable Network. Cisco’s technology enables automated network and service provisioning for cloud providers and their enterprise. Tail-f Systems, now part of Cisco, provides multi-vendor service orchestration and network automation systems based on Netconf and Yang.

Equinix Cloud Exchange, with direct access to leading cloud providers such as AWS, Cisco, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, SoftLayer, and others, enables enterprises to realize multi-cloud goals via its SDN foundation, the Equinix Programmable Network. The combination of Tail-f NCS with Equinix's SDN-based architecture, enables the enterprise to instantaneously provision new and direct connections to the cloud, much more quickly.
