Cisco unveils new virtual router technologies

Cisco has announced the launch of three new technologies in its Evolved Programmable Network (EPN) portfolio, designed to help operators virtualise their managed services. The new products include the IOS XRv 9000 virtual router, a routing software upgrade and 100GE line cards for the ASR 9000 Series edge router. The IOS XRv 9000 virtual router operates on x86-based hardware for on-demand, cost optimised service deployment and complements the company's existing cloud services routers (CSR1000v) targeted at the enterprise and managed services markets. It will be available in the second quarter
