CityFibre files for judicial review of ASA fibre ruling

UK full-fibre infrastructure builder CityFibre has filed for a judicial review of a ruling by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) which allows the continued use of the term 'fibre' to describe services provided over copper-based networks.

In a statement, CityFibre described the ASA's logic and research as 'fundamentally flawed', and insisted that the ruling encourages ISPs to continue misleading customers. CityFibre CEO Greg Mesch attacked the 'short-sighted' decision and accused the ASA of failing in its duty to protect consumers by failing to ensure honest and truthful broadband advertising.
