CityFibre to complete Edinburgh network by end-September

UK wholesale fibre network infrastructure provider CityFibre confirmed that it is on track to complete installation of its new 150 km ultra-fast network in Edinburgh by end-September. It has taken 12 months to install over 100 km of pure fibre infrastructure, taking the current total to 126 km since launch, with CityFibre employing over 150 engineers and workers at the project's peak. Upon completion, the network will reach around 7,000 businesses, as well as over 300 public sector sites including schools, libraries and office buildings.

As CityFibre’s acquired KCOM network goes no further than York and Harrogate, yet another so called “Gigabit City” served by leasing backhaul from providers such as Level3 Communications with hardly any business connections and no residential service
