CNMC approves Lyntia's takeover of Iberdrola dark fibre network with conditions

Wednesday 31 July 2019 | 15:25 CET | News
Spain's communications and markets regulator CNMC has approved the acquisition by Lyntia (formerly Ufinet Spain) of the unused fibre-optic network of utility giant Iberdrola, subject to a number of conditions, reports Europa Press. The deal announced back in March will see Lyntia take over 57 percent of Iberdrola's fibre network for a minimum period of 50 years. However, in view of the high concentration of Spain's dark fibre market, Lyntia has been required to maintain the contractual conditions of existing customers and offer to extend existing contracts that expire in a period of 10 years.
