CNMC refunds Telefonica EUR 600,000 for 2003 fine

Wednesday 25 March 2015 | 08:58 CET | News
Spain's telecoms regulator CNMC has agreed to pay back EUR 607,375 to Telefonica after the Spanish Supreme Court partially vacated a 2003 fine imposed by the now defunct regulator CMT. Telefonica was fined EUR 800,000 for a "very serious" infringement of the previous telecommunications act relating to services provided to public call centres. Following an appeal from Telefonica, the Supreme Court eventually annulled part of the fine imposed at the time, leaving the amount payable by the former incumbent at EUR 192,624.
