Cofetel president wants new convergence agreement

Mexico needs a new Convergence Agreement to boost the freedom of operators, and enable them to provide all the services they can by paying a tax to the state budget, news agency Notimex reports, citing Mony de Swaan, the president of Mexican regulator Cofetel. De Swaan considers giving Telmex the authorization to provide TV services a priority, along with the promotion of net neutrality and the efficient use of spectrum. Back in 2006, competition watchdog Federal Competition Commission (CFC) and the Ministry of Communications and Transport (SCT) designed a Convergence Agreement which states
