Colombia registers 49.6 mln mobile phones

Colombia's Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism (Mintic) announced that some 49.6 million mobile phones have been added to a centralised registered since legislation came into force in August 2015 requiring operators to verify and identify all IMEI phone identity numbers. By May 2017 a total of 3.46 million phones were blocked after having been reported stolen or lost, while a further 6.25 million were invalidated due to an irregularity.
