The mobile industry in Mexico generated USD 10 billion of economic value last year, accounting for 3.8 percent of the country's GDP, according to a new GSMA Intelligence country report. Published to coincide with the CLT17 Latin American telecommunications congress held in Cartagena, the study said local mobile operators have been driving the Colombian digital agenda, investing USD 9 billion in networks and spectrum since the start of the decade. As a result mobile broadband coverage in Colombia now reaches more than 92 percent of the population for 3G and 65 percent for 4G.
