Comcast staff must cite data caps' fairness, not congestion

US cable operator Comcast instructed its customer service representatives to tell subscribers that the 300 GB a month data cap it is imposing in its markets across the South were brought it to introduce "fairness and a more flexible policy to our customers", according to documents leaked onto Reddit cited by consumer group Free Press. The group wants the FCC to step in, arguing that the move is unfair and is Comcast's way to dissuade cord cutters who would wish to replace cable TV with internet TV. Comcast tells customer service staff to not say that the programme is about congestion
