Commercial Bank of Africa to extend M-Shwari in East Africa

Monday 24 August 2015 | 10:47 CET | News
The Commercial Bank of Africa (CBA) plans to roll out its M-Shwari product in other countries in East Africa by the end of the year. Group CEO Isaac Awuondo said doing so is one of the bank's key focus points in the second half of the year, Business Daily reported. Awuondo said it is partnering with another telecoms company to try to replicate the success of M-Shwari, which enables customers to save and borrow small sums via their handsets. He declined to name the phone operator or the market.
