Commerzbank moves into online banking

Germany's second largest bank, Commerzbank, is to move into online banking, according to German magazine Focus. New head of directing banking Ole Franke told the magazine that Commerzbank had been working on the project with a team of 100 staff for at least a year. It aims to bring out an application to enable customers to check their balance by phone, in order to appeal to younger people and smartphone users. Commerzbank already has a direct banking arm, called Comdirect.
