Consumers association denounces Nos Like tariff to regulator

Wednesday 15 January 2020 | 12:30 CET | News

Portuguese consumers association Deco has denounced the Nos Like tariff to the National Communications Authority (Anacom) for alleged misleading advertising. According to Deco, the company communicates a lower monthly cost than is actually the case and advertises "free apps" whose use is restricted.

The headline price advertised for the plan is based on a 4-week billing cycle, as opposed to the usual monthly rate. Customers also have to pay extra to use the zero-rated app options, and these are subject to additional fair-use restrictions.

Deco called for the regulator to conduct a wider investigation of other similar tariffs, to ensure they do not violate net neutrality regulations.
