Consumers mostly using smartphones to buy devices - study

Consumers are increasingly using smartphones to purchase new mobile devices, according to a study from JD Power. The US-based survey said the majority of consumers now buy new phones via the mobile web rather than via in-store, telephone and desktop channels. Customer satisfaction with the speed and consistency of the smartphone purchasing experience explains results, with the study reporting that new mobile device purchases via a smartphone ranked at 857 points on a 1,000-point scale, compared to 823 points for the same types of purchases via PCs or tablets, 842 points for in-store channels
