Consumers sceptical of mobile payment with smartwatches

A fifth of consumers in Germany would consider making mobile payments with smartwatches, according to a recent GfK survey. The average across the countries Germany, the US, China, South Korea and the UK was 35 percent. The majority of consumers see the benefit of those devices mainly in fitness and health control. In a workshop with GfK experts in the UK, participants identified three essential hindrances: they worry that the payment is not secure; they also believe that this payment method is not accepted enough and is more time consuming than paying cash or with a card; and respondents were
