Consumers use mobile devices day and night

More than 21,000 of participants surveyed worldwide said they depend on their mobile devices day and night for more than calls, texting and emails, according to a survey conducted by IDG Global Solutions (IGS). Popular activities for smartphone and tablet users were browsing the internet, mobile apps and social networking. The majority of respondents said they are no longer using a standalone alarm clock, personal organiser or music player and 35 percent no longer have a landline phone.
