Copaco to invest USD 2 million in Asuncion GPON

Monday 4 April 2016 | 16:14 CET | News
Paraguay's state-owned operator Copaco will invest USD 2 million to upgrade its copper network with GPON fibre, reports ABC. This change will concern only downtown Asuncion and the neighbourhoods of Villa Morra and Ciudad Nueva. The operator aims to use the new technology to provide triple-play (internet, IPTV and telephony) services. According to CEO Eduardo Gonzalez Martinez, USD 40 million will be required to cover all of the capital city, a sum the operator currently does not have. Copaco expects that the GPON network will be operational by the fourth quarter of 2016.
