Coship picks Entropic's MoCA platform

Wednesday 25 March 2015 | 11:07 CET | News

Entropic announced the company's fourth generation Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) 1.1 platform has been selected by Chinese technology company Coship to serve the China home networking market. By adding MoCA to its product offerings, Coship is enabling Chinese service providers to offer more advanced services. The MoCA platform enables a multimedia coaxial networking platform for at home distribution of multiple streams of high definition (HD) and ultra HD audio/video, voice and broadband data and has been designed into Coship's G1200 MoCA-enabled gateway and the MC1000W MoCA to Wi-Fi extender.

MoCA provides a communication infrastructure using existing home coaxial cables without the need for new wiring. Coship's new MoCA-based products enable multi-system operators (MSOs) to move to a gateway-client architecture in the home to address the growing need for subscriber applications such as multi-room DVR, IP video-on-demand, and broadband extension throughout the home. The Entropic chip is available now. Coship's products with Entropic's fourth generation MoCA platform will be available in mid-2015.
