Costa Rica's ICE signs contract to connect indigenous territories

Costa Rica's Superintendency of Telecommunications (Sutel) has announced the official signing of a contract with state-owned operator ICE to implement two digital divide projects in the country's Atlantic and southern regions. Under the terms of the USD 47.9 million tender awarded last year, ICE has 70 days starting on 31 March to connect the first indigenous communities and a total of 14 months to bring telephony and internet services to villages in 6 indigenous territories in the Atlantic zone plus 8 more territories in the Southern zone.
