Court fines Halotel Tanzania over use of unverified SIM data

Halotel Tanzania says its implication in a recent economic sabotage case was a result of inadvertently working with a fictitious company that caused a TZS 459 million loss to the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA). Halotel MD Le Van Dai said that it had sold 1,000 SIM cards to the company Unex and failed to verify information provided by the latter for registration purpose, the Daily News reported. The remarks came after the Kisutu Resident Magistrate's Court in Dar es Salaam on 16 May sentenced Viettel Tanzania, its former MD, Do Manh Hong and seven other foreigners to pay
