Court orders Orange to pay Outremer EUR 8 million

Orange Caraibes has been ordered by the Paris Commercial Court to pay Altice subsidiary Outremer Telecom EUR 8 million for engaging in anti-competitive practices in the French West Indies. Two tariffs were examined, the first offering a discount rates for fixed-to-mobile on-net calls and the second is a loyalty scheme offering a free new phone to existing customers who sign a new 2-year contract. BFM Business reports that Orange was found guilty of abusing its dominant position the French West Indies and French Guiana by the Paris Court of Appeal in 2010.
