Court orders Orange to pay Verizon EUR 550,000

Friday 23 August 2013 | 08:52 CET | News
Orange France has been ordered by a French commercial court to pay EUR 550,000 to US carrier Verizon after the judge found the former incumbent operator to be charging copper wholesale prices 2 percent above its true costs. Les Echos writes that the court has yet to decide on similar cases brought by BT, Colt and Completel, which are seeking EUR 27 million in total. On the other hand, French operator SFR saw the court overturn a 2010 decision on appeal, in which it was seeking EUR 51 million for excessive fixed wholesale prices.
