Croatian mobile users grow in Q3 to 4.5 million

Croatia had 4.50 million mobile users at the end of the third quarter of 2017, up by 3.84 percent from the previous quarter but 3.65 percent percent less than the year before, according to data from the Croatian Agency for Postal and Electronic Communications (Hakom). Total revenues from mobile services amounted to HRK 1.15 billion, a drop of 6.62 percent year-on-year. 

The number of ported mobile numbers reached 1.32 million at the end of the quarter (+16.65%). The mobile telephony penetration rate was 105.06 percent (-3.65% year-on-year). 

The number of fixed connections totaled 1.37 million, down 1.86 percent quarter-on-quarter and by 1.97 percent year-on-year. Revenues from fixed services reached HRK 399.52 million in the quarter, an annual drop of 12.22 percent. 

Croatia counted 4.56 million broadband internet connections, of which 1.08 million fixed broadband (+5.96% y/y). Copper accounted for 441,362 (-3.09%), while xDSL unbundling totaled 177,111 (-6.14%). Mobile broadband connections (including UMTS, HSDPA) reached 3.47 million (+2.85%), and there were 70,509 FTTx connections (+63.37%) at the end of September. Total revenue from internet access services was HRK 1.24 billion, up 26.43 percent from a year ago. 

In the TV distribution segment, digital terrestrial free-to-air had 662,619 users (-4.76%), IPTV counted 410,490 (+4.53%), cable TV attracted 167,079 (+6.24%), DTH/satellite TV had 180,296 (+3.01%) and digital terrestrial pay-TV totalled 60,021 customers (+0.39%). Revenues in the TV segment amounted to HRK 183.78 million, up 5.05 percent year-on-year.
