Culture sec wants BBC to make iPlayer available overseas

UK Culture Secretary John Whittingdale has called on the BBC to make iPlayer available outside the UK, reports BBC News. Speaking to TV executives at the Royal Television Society in Cambridge, Whittingdale said it was only right that that people who had paid for a licence fee or for access to a subscription service should be able to access that content on holiday abroad. He urged the BBC to devise proposals for portability and how this could work for the industry. He also questioned whether the main BBC evening news bulletin should remain at 10pm, asking whether is was sensible for BBC and
