Cyberlink introduces DDoS protection service

Thursday 7 December 2017 | 09:07 CET | News

Swiss managed services provider Cyberlink has introduced a DDoS protection service. It is automatically implemented with all Cyberlink connectivity services fee of charge. To begin with, the service will be available in the Standard option and in 2018, it will be available with in a Premium option for large volume attacks.

The new service provides DDoS protection not only against automatic DDoS attacks, which are simpler, but also against intelligent DDoS attacks that may take only five to ten minutes and are more difficult to identify.

Cyberlink said 93 percent of attacks require less than 1 Gbps capacity. With Cyberlink's DDoS protection service, when the volume of attacks does not exceed the capacity of connectivity services, the data traffic is automatically cleaned. In the case that the volume exceeds the capacity of the connectivity services, data traffic is blocked for 15 minutes.

Currently, Cyberlink is offering the service in the Standard option, which will block traffic if the attack's volume exceeds the capacity. However, in 2018, Cyberlink will add the Premium option, which in case of large volume attacks, will redirect traffic to the external scrubbing centre for cleaning.
