Danish banks agree to extend Dankort cards to mobile phones

The main Danish banks and the Confederation of Danish Enterprise (Dansk Erhverv) have signed an agreement on bringing the Dankort payment card system to smartphones in order to enable contactless payments. The consulting group Nets will help develop the service platform ahead of a planned launch in the autumn of 2016. Around 700,000 contactless Dankort cards are already in circulation in the country, and more than 50 percent of all payments with Dankort cards are from terminals ready to receive contactless payments.
