DB Netze ordered to let GlobalConnect access causeway

German railway infrastructure company DB Netze has been ordered by the Federal Network Agency (BnA) to provide Danish telecoms company GlobalConnect with an offer for using the Hindenburgdamm causeway dam between Sylt and the mainland to lay a fibre-optic cable. The offer must be made within a month or DB Netze faces a fine of EUR 75,000. The BnA believes this will improve conditions for the roll-out of modern, high-speed telecoms networks.
