Delta starts upgrade of 15,000 street cabinets

Dutch cable operator Delta has started construction work on its Next Generation Network. The first new equipment will be placed in Ritthem, in the municipality of Vlissingen, and within a few years, all the network's street cabinets will be updated. The project will prepare the network for the introduction of Docsis 3.1 and gigabit broadband speeds.

The upgrade of the around 15,000 street cabinets will leave each customer without services for a short period. In addition to upgrading its top broadband speed to 1 Gbps, from the current 400 Mbps, the upgrade will allow Delta to stop analogue TV services and free up space for more TV and internet services.
