Deutsche Telekom deploys robots to build fibre network in sewers in Salzland

Deutsche Telekom said it is laying fibre in sewers in the district of Salzland in Saxony-Anhalt, using technology from Fast Opticom. The company deploys a small robot in pipes to instal clamps that hold conduits protecting the broadband cables. These new techniques mean the company avoids excavation or works that could disrupt traffic or damage the environment, as the shafts and channels are already built.
