Deutsche Telekom lays underwater fibre cable to connect Fraueninsel residents

Deutsche Telekom said that it has laid cable under Lake Chiemsee in Bavaria to bring fibre to one of its islands, called the Fraueninsel. The company laid 1.2 km of underwater cable through the Chiemsee. The cable runs from Gstadt am Chiemsee 25 meters deep to the shore of the Fraueninsel. There, a network distributor connects residents of Fraueninsel to the fibre-optic cable.
