Deutsche Telekom plans to enter sports betting

Deutsche Telekom plants to enter sports betting, Suddeutsche Zeitung (SZ) reported on its website. A spokeswoman told SZ that it plans to diversify into the field through a company called Deutsche Sportwetten (DSW), which SZ said is currently in Austrian hands. Once DSW obtains a permit, Deutsche Telekom will take a majority stake in the company. The German operator has already received permission to take over a sports betting company from the Federal Cartel Office.
